Terra Blevins
I'm an assistant professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. I work broadly on linguistic analysis of NLP models and multilingual NLP. I'm also interested in how we can use analysis insights to build better NLP systems. Recently, this has involved studying multilingual models to learn how they acquire unsupervised cross-lingual transfer, and designing multilingual modeling approaches to better represent low-resource languages.
Before I joined Northeastern, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Vienna NLP group at the University of Vienna. I completed my Ph.D. in the Natural Language Processing group at the University of Washington, where I was advised by Luke Zettlemoyer. I also worked as a visiting researcher at Facebook AI Research (FAIR). I graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Computer Science where I worked with Kathy McKeown.
