Terra Blevins
I'm a postdoctoral researcher in the Vienna NLP group at the University of Vienna. Starting Fall 2025, I'll be an assistant professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University.
I'm recruiting students for Fall 2025; check out this page for more details.
I'm generally interested in linguistic analysis of NLP models and multilingual NLP. I also work on using these analysis insights to build better NLP systems. Recently, this has involved studying multilingual models to learn how they acquire unsupervised cross-lingual transfer, and designing multilingual modeling approaches to better represent low-resource languages.
I completed my Ph.D. in the Natural Language Processing group at the University of Washington, where I was advised by Luke Zettlemoyer and supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. I graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Computer Science where I worked with Kathy McKeown.
